Uglich Orphanage Farm
Project
In an attempt to help better the
lives of the orphans located in
DarGift Charities, Miramed
have collaborated to establish a feeder pig farm project just outside
of the city of
The Children of the orphanage do not
receive an adequate and nutritionally balanced diet. This is because of
tight financial constraints that orphanages all over
This farm is an attempt to
alleviate some undue financial burden on the Uglich
Orphanage
and provide business training for the orphans before they graduate.
For orphans interested in
farming, we propose to train them to be future farmers. They will help the
regular workers in their daily chores. They will give shots and learn
other veterinarian skills. They will keep records on the amount and kinds
of feed that is fed to the pigs. They will monitor the weight and health
of the pigs. They will keep a set of books so that they will understand
what it means to and that it is necessary to make a profit. They will
have instructions on how to develop, implement, and execute a self-sustaining
business. The children will be involved in every step of the pig farming
process through classes, projects, and hands on training. The focus is on
training and education of the children to prepare them for future life.
Eventually the children, with the education they receive, will create their own
business and be able to act as foster parents and support other children placed
under their wing.
Reverend Sergey Beschansy
of DarGift Charity Organization currently has a
successful pig farm operating in Sergiev Posad. He has generously offered to help us get
started. In turn, he has asked us to pledge to help other Russian
orphanages implement a similar program.
